This one million dollar
plus, renovation to an existing dilapidated shopping center
was actually phase ll of the project. The previous year
Horne had managed the construction of a new Marshalls retail
outlet as part of the overall redevelopment of the site.
Phase ll
involved a series of structural improvements to support the
weight of new pitched roofs, and included the installation
of new concrete foundations and related steel columns along
the entire front of the shopping center. In the process asbestos
was encountered and the abatement specialists worked around
the clock to complete the removal.
The facades
of all the stores were rebuilt as well so, needless to say,
it was quite complicated to coordinate the entire job in
such a way that all existing retail stores were able to remain
open for all their business hours throughout the seven month
project.
This job
was done on time and on budget despite the discovery of several
unexpected and unplanned for challenges. |
