It's not often that you can describe
a City's Public Works facility as magnificent, but that's exactly how to
describe the City of Dover's Department of Public Works complex.
This
$4.9 Million dollar, three building complex encompassed more than 70,000 square
feet of enclosed space and it is a project that Horne Construction is
especially proud of.
Horne acted as the Design/Builder on this
worthwhile project. Horne's expertise allowed the accommodation of the City's
demanding requirements by utilizing the flexibility and versatility of
Pre-Engineered Building systems; we used a Pre-Engineered Steel Building System
for the Main Building, a Pre-Engineered Wood Building for the Storage Barn and
a Pre-Engineered Aluminum frame building for the Sand/Salt
Shed.
Numerous environmental concerns arose from the fact that the site
is located within 2,500 feet of the City of Dover's water supply. Our Design
Team successfully addressed all of the environmental concerns with innovative
solutions.
The Main Building has the capability to house the majority of
the City's vehicles and was a major requirement of the City who had invested
substantial sums of money on the equipment.
Some of the features of the
Main Building are a Warm Storage for up to fifty vehicles, a Painting Booth
that is large enough to hold a Ten-Wheel Dump Truck, a Welding Shop, a
Carpentry Shop, Small Engine Repair area, a Vehicle Wash Bay that will
accommodate large trucks, a five bay Service Area complete with 3 Vehicle
Lifts, a Stock Room, Tool Storage Room as well as a large and modern Office
area with Break Room and Shower/Locker Rooms.
The complex also includes
a large Storage Building as well as a Sand and Salt storage building. This was
all carefully planned for, keeping in mind the environmental requirements for
this site.
In just under a year, Horne Construction completed this
project from inception to final walk-thru. The project was completed on time,
within budget and safely. |
