AVIS Rent-A-Car contracted with Horne Construction to replace their aging Service Facility at the Portland, ME Jetport. The existing Facility was scheduled to be demolished to make way for a new Parking Garage at the Jetport.
The new facility was built within a historic district, which required Architecture not ordinarily associated with an automobile service facility. Permitting delayed project start up until Fall 2001 and the facility had to be completed by Spring 2002 since the existing facility had to be razed for the Parking Garage construction to continue.
This $1.9 million, 7,500 sf, two building complex included an automatic car wash, two (2) automobile service bays, office space, an undercover four (4) gas pump/auto cleaning islands, and secured parking for 300 plus vehicles in the Avis rental car fleet. |
